What is the core difference between a VDS and a dedicated server?

A VDS is a slice of a physical machine partitioned with VMware; the vCPU and RAM capacity defined in your package stays available to you, but the vCPU model is shared and the hardware still hosts other virtual servers. With a dedicated server the entire machine is allocated to you, so noisy-neighbour effects disappear.

How does colocation differ from renting a dedicated server?

In colocation you own the hardware and REXE provides rack space, power, cooling and network connectivity. With a rented dedicated server the hardware belongs to REXE and we handle failed-part replacement.

Can I move from a VDS to a dedicated server later?

Yes. Starting on a VDS and moving to dedicated hardware as resource needs grow is a common path. The support team plans the data migration with you.

Which solution includes DDoS protection?

All three sit behind the same DDoS mitigation infrastructure, whose total network capacity is 12 Tbps. Filters track connection state; where application-specific inspection is required, Layer7 filters are enabled.

Which one scales more easily?

On a VDS, cores, memory and disk are increased through the wizard and the change applies quickly. Dedicated servers and colocation require a hardware change, so they need longer planning.

Do all of them include root / full administrator access?

Yes. You get full privileges on the operating system in all three. The difference is not the level of access but who owns and who manages the hardware underneath.
